Tea is one of the main elements of our culture. We do not wait for 5 o’clock like the British people, we do not have the patience to taste it in ceremonies like the Japanese people, we use it in every moment to accompany our warm friendly conversations. It warms us up in the winter and refreshes us in the summer.
Let’s come to Istanbul. Let’s talk about the places where we meet, about the landscapes, the surroundings and most important issues, the delicious tea. Firstly, let’s start with the historical places which has served such tastes for many years.
Dayılar Çay Ocağı (Tea Shop)
We named it like this. But some people call it Nostalgia, or Uncles or Uncles’ Place. It is the historical tea house of Horse Market in Fatih, Istanbul.
Çorlulu Ali Pasha Medresesi (Moslem seminary)
It is one of the old beautiful places that the tobacco pipe (narghile) and tea addicts cannot give up. This place located in Beyazıt is one of the warmest places with tea houses and chat rooms.
